A FAMOSA

A Famosa (Malay language: Kota A
Famosa), or &quot; The Famous&quot; in Portuguese, is a fortress gate located in
Malacca, Malaysia. It is among the oldest
surviving European architectural remains in Asia.
This tiny gate (called the Porta de Santiago) is all that is left of a
once-mighty fortress.

HISTORY

    In 1511 a Portuguese fleet
arrived under the command of Alfonso de Albuquerque. His forces attacked and

ANGKOR WAT
Angkor Wat (or Angkor Vat), a
World Heritage Site, is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built for King
Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city.
As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a
significant religious centre since its foundation—first Hindu, dedicated to
Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of
Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national
flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.

AYUTTHAYA

    Ayutthaya (full name Phra
Nakhon Si Ayutthaya) city is the capital of Ayutthaya
province in Thailand.
The city was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong, who came here to escape a
smallpox outbreak in Lop Buri, and proclaimed it the capital of his kingdom,

in India,
the birthplace of Rama in the Ramayana (Thai, Ramakien). In 1767 the city was
destroyed by the Burmese army, and the ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya historical
park, which is recognized... (more)</description>
